Hossam Ghaly has spoken of his hopes of Tottenham lifting
the UEFA Cup this season, or at least the League Cup.
The Egyptian may well feature in the upcoming game against
Bayer Leverkusen, which could prove pivotal.
Ghaly can see action in UEFA cup tomorrow
Spurs are in the last eight of the League
Cup, and are close to qualifying to the next round of
the UEFA Cup. They face Bayer Leverkusen tomorrow evening
(Thursday) and will hope to get a win which will ensure
their place in the next round.
"I have a good feeling for this season - I think
we are going to win a trophy," said Hossam Ghaly
to The Sun.
"We are doing really well and all the players
are working from their heart," continued the midfielder.
"We are doing well in the UEFA Cup and have got
some good results. I hope we can qualify and then think
about the knockout stages."
Ghaly seems realistic, but equally ambitious. "It
would be a big achievement to win the UEFA Cup - it
would be fantastic. Hopefully we can do that.
"It will be hard but we have beaten Chelsea in
the Premiership this season and they are a very big
team. We have got quality players in the squad and there's
no reason why we can't go far," he concluded.
The match between Spurs and Leverkusen marks the return of
Dimitar Berbatov to the BayArena. The Bulgarian was the biggest
star of the German team, and will face them for the first
time since leaving to Spurs for almost £11 million (€16
million) after spending more than five seasons at the Bundesliga
outfit.
Spurs have won both of their European games so far, defeating
Besiktas and Club Brugge. They will hope to continue their
good run, if they are to fulfill Ghaly's ambitions of lifting
the trophy come the end of the season.
